Amazing Weather Imagery of Winter Storm Jonas

Powerful Winter Storm Jonas has brought more than two feet of snow, powerful winds and record coastal flooding to parts of the East. Here are some of the best weather images that capture the strength of this nor'easter.

Shown first is a water vapor image of Jonas on Saturday. The plume of moisture associated with the storm is depicted in white and green arcing from the Atlantic Ocean into the Northeast, while wraparound moisture pivots through the South. This is in contrast to the big punch of dry air in orange sweeping from Florida to off the mid-Atlantic coast.

This NASA satellite image from Sunday shows the snow cover in the Northeast in the wake of Jonas from northern Virginia to southern New England. Over the ocean on the right side of the image are the clouds associated with Jonas moving away.

A surface weather map of Jonas early Saturday morning showing the strong area of low pressure near the coast of the mid-Atlantic. Just north of the low pressure system (L) strong wind gusts over 70 mph and record coastal flooding was reported in Delaware and New Jersey.
