Rosetta Probe Captures Landslide, Bright Flashes During Comet Outburst
Nov 16, 2024
A bright burst of light on a comet being orbited by the Rosetta space probe was captured in images shared by the European Space Agency (ESA). The light show was apparently caused by a landslide. The dramatic flashes were recorded on Feb. 19 and accompanied by rising temperatures and sharp increases in dust, gas and plasma released from comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The image above shows the bright burst of light on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko captured by the Rosetta space probe. Scientists believe...
Scientists Emerge From Dome In Hawaii After Completing Yearlong Mars Simulation
Nov 16, 2024
Six scientists emerged Sunday from a dome in Hawaii, after completing a yearlong Mars simulation. The group, which lived in isolation in the dome on a Mauna Loa mountain for the entire year, could go outside the dome only while wearing spacesuits. Cyprien Verseux, a crew member from France, said the simulation shows a mission to Mars can succeed. "I can give you my personal impression which is that a mission to Mars in the close future is realistic. I...
